Dignity, released here for the first time, was a previously unreleased 1989 out-take from Oh Mercy, although the version here had been remixed in 1994 by Brendan O'Brien. For promo and commercial CD single releases of the version of Dignity from this album, see 1994. The original 1989 version of Dignity is a rarity and was released on the Touched By An Angel soundtrack album in 1998. It was later released in the UK and elsewhere on The Best Of Bob Dylan Vol. 2, see 2000, and on European releases of The Essential Bob Dylan, see 2001 and 2003.

This set was manufactured in Holland, and released in Holland and France.

Columbia 477805 1 (NL) - front scan by Hans Seegers	The front photo is by Ken Regan, the rear photo is by Morgan Renard and the third photo (in the cowboy jacket, and on an inner sleeve here) is by Randee St. Nicholas. This 2LP set is in a single sleeve and the two records have picture sleeves. The information sticker on the front wrongly claims Dignity is a "brand new" song - it was of course from 1989, and had been in the hands of Dylan fans since at least 1990. Thanks to Peter Pearson for information and photos, and to Hans Seegers for further information and scans. Hans Seeger's copy has plain inner sleeves. The design on the inside of the front insert is from the front photo, and the design on the inside of the rear insert and on the CD itself is a crop of Bob's hands from the rear photo. The front insert is a three-fold card.

As far as I know these releases are still on sale in the USA and Canada.

Columbia 477805 2 (UK) - front insert with sticker (my copy)	This release has a round white sticker on the front of the jewel case with text in black. "Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Vol. 3" - Sony SRCS 7531 (Japan), Nov 1994:

This release, which I assume has the same tracklist as the US release, has a purple, orange, white, black and blue obi with price ¥2,300.
