Audio: International Album Releases - Dylan-only Compilations 2020s
This is the sixth part of a separate multi-year list by release date of commercially-released stereo Bob Dylan-only compilation albums (including Greatest Hits albums with non-standard tracklists) that have been referred to me but do not qualify for my Searching For A Gem list because they contain only performances which are all available on officially released Dylan albums. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing here - as far as I know some are not included on any other Internet site. This 2CD set was intended to be released on Blu-spec
CD2 discs to mark Bob's tour of Japan in April 2020. Track by track liner
notes are by Heckel Sugano. The CD obi and front stickers are expected
to show "来日記念盤"
for "Japan Tour Edition". Thanks to Jack from Canada for finding new artwork. Thanks to Steve Perrin for information that the new cover picture is based on artwork by Japanese Ukiyo-e artist Hokusai. The original artwork is now used as the front of the colour insert booklet. According to Sonny Boy McFitzson Amazon Japan are including a 24cm x 24cm print of the new artwork as a bonus (see right). |

Mississippi (version 2) is also on the 2CD set. |

This 2CD compilation is being released
to coincide with Bob's Spring 2023 tour of Japan. It comes on Blu-spec
CD2 discs and
includes commentaries, lyrics, and
translations. The price will be ¥3,000 (¥2.727 plus tax). The
Japanese title is
Ryuukoukashuu [流行歌集] meaning
Collection Of His Hits. The front design is from a 2022 60th Anniversary postcard commemorating Bob's debut on Columbia Records in 1962. The "60 Dylan" picture is based on a work by Hiroshige Utagawa (spot Bob and Suze from the front of The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan). The Japanese script says "60 years since his debut album was released" (19 Mar 1962 in the USA, although not until 1966 in Japan). The original picture is called "Sudden Shower over Shin-Ohashi Bridge and Atake" and dates from 1857. |

This is a new career-spanning compilation
containing twelve of Bob Dylan’s greatest songs, including Knocking On
Heaven’s Door, Like A Rolling Stone and Hurricane. It is being released
in conjunction with the (very expensive) book of the same name published by Calloway Arts
and Entertainment and edited by Mark Davidson and Parker Fishel, with a
foreword by Sean Wilentz.

that the Japanese release Sony Music SICP 31686 comes on a Blu-Spec
CD2 disc and includes a manga by Naoki Urasawa entitled “Bob Dylan’s
Adventure”. The manga is 38 pages long and details his life in
pictures with Japanese text. The Japanese LP release Sony Music SIJP 157 is actually the US LP with a Japanese obi. The obi covers the whole rear sleeve. |
