Audio: International Album Releases - Various Artist Compilations 2005

This is a separate multi-year list by release date of commercially-released Various Artist stereo compilation albums released in 2005 that have been referred to me but do not qualify for my Searching For A Gem list because they contain only Bob Dylan performances which are available on officially released Dylan albums. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing here - as far as I know some are not included on any other Internet site. Promo-only Various Artist compilation albums with Dylan tracks are now included in this list. Other International Compilations are now here:

"1964: The Times They Are A-Changin' - A Radio Symposium On Bob Dylan and His Times" - 2 radio station CDs, Columbia Legacy (no catalogue number) (USA), Jan 2005:

This 2CD set reproduces the cover from The Bootleg Series Vol. 6: Live 1964 on a yellow background as the front of the CD booklet. Inside, it gives the radio cues, as though it is a CD pack sent out by WFUV for syndication, although the discs (blue on the playing side so perhaps CD-Rs) and the rear sleeve have Columbia logos properly printed on them. The programme includes five songs from The Bootleg Series Vol. 6: Live 1964 and there's a note that Columbia and Dylan's management waive their rights under U.S. legislation to allow radio stations to stream the programme on their websites.

This album is one of a series of Artist's Choice albums created by Hear Music for Starbucks Coffee. They are for sale at Starbucks Coffee Shops and on the Starbucks web-site to US residents only.

The album was produced for Hear Music by Rhino Special Products.

This is a two disc set with a CD and a DVD promoting Columbia's "The Essential Collection" series of compilations, as does the 2004 Essential Rock release shown above. Bob's contribution is It's All Over Now, Baby Blue, again from The Essential Bob Dylan, which is one of the albums illustrated on the front insert (top row left). For releases of The Essential Bob Dylan see 2000 (USA/Japan), 2001 (UK/Germany/France) and 2003 (Holland). There is no Dylan content on the DVD.

This CD was made in Austria for distribution in Europe - the three contact telephone numbers on the inside of the front insert are from London. The black disc is a CD-ROM and as well as the 20 audio tracks has two videos and other material.

"NARM" is the US National Association of Recording Merchandisers, and the album was distributed at their annual convention in San Diego, CA, 10-14 Aug 2005. Bob's contribution is the live 1963 performance of Blowin' In The Wind from The Bootleg Series Vol. 7 - No Direction Home: The Soundtrack on CD1.

Bob's contribution to this 4CD set of baseball-related songs and interviews, etc., is Catfish, the 1975 out-take from Desire released in 1991 on The Genuine Bootleg Series Vols. 1-3. The box has a soft front intended to appear like an opened out baseball cover.

This track originally appeared on the 1998 baseball compilation CD Diamond Cuts, later renamed Diamond Cuts Vol. 1: Play Ball (see the 1998 page of this list (links above and below). There are now seven compilation CDs in the Diamond Cuts series, but only the first features Bob.
