
This is a separate multi-year list by release date of commercially-released Various Artist stereo compilation albums released in 2001 that have been referred to me but do not qualify for my Searching For A Gem list because they contain only Bob Dylan performances which are available on officially released Dylan albums. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing here - as far as I know some are not included on any other Internet site. Promo-only Various Artist compilation albums with Dylan tracks are now included in this list. Other International Compilations are now here:

River (Ralph & Carter Stanley) The Lonesome River was released in Oct 2008 on CD2 of The Bootleg Series Vol. 8 - Tell Tale Signs: Rare And Unreleased 1989-2006, see here. This means R-0266 has ceased to be a rarity. Other artists include Billy Bob Thornton and Earl Scruggs singing

Bob's contribution to this album was Tweedle Dee And Tweedle Dum from "Love And Theft". This song must have been included in the movie before the album was released (11 Sep 2001). The German release was made in Austria, and was distributed in France and Holland without the sticker, which reads "BANDITS! In Cinemas from 1st November".
The Japanese copy shown is a promo, with a yellow numbered promo sticker on the rear insert and the text "SAMPLE LOANED" in the clear centre of the CD itself. There was a white obi with black text and price ¥2,520 (¥2,400 before tax), release date "01-12-19" (19 Dec 2001), original US release date "01-10-9" (9 Oct 2001) and withdrawal date "02-6-16" (13 Jun 2002). There is an 8-page stapled booklet in English and a 20-page stapled booklet in English and Japanese.

This 38-track Christmas compilation for radio stations from Sony Japan in a slimline 2CD jewel case features several Christmas songs, as well as tracks by Mariah Carey, Aerosmith, Destiny's Child, ELO, etc. Bob's contribution is Summer Days from "Love And Theft" on CD2 - an odd seasonal choice! There is a single 8-page folded front insert. The interior of the insert features colour and monochrome reproductions of each of the album covers from which these tracks are taken, plus a short comment on each in Japanese. This film was directed by Bob's
old friend Cameron Crowe, who also directed Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire
(see 1996
and VHS & DVD 1990s Part 2),
and who wrote the sleeve notes for Biograph (see
1985
and 1997). The Dylan contribution is 4th Time Around, the live version from The Bootleg Series Vol. 4: Live 1966, The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert.
