This page is part of a list of original releases by release
date of international commercially-released regular stereo Dylan albums.
They do not contain rarities or obscurities and are not eligible for the
Searching For A Gem
list. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing
here - as far as I know some are not included on any other Internet site. Promo
releases of regular albums are now listed here and no longer in the former yearly Promo sections. |

existing entries, please let me know!
Please note I cannot value your Dylan rarities -
see the Mission page for reasons why. Contact the

Release date: 13 Oct 2009 (USA),
12 Oct 2009 (Europe), 10 Oct 2009 (Australia/New Zealand).
Thanks to the "Isis"
newsletter for news that Columbia Records announced on 25 Aug 2009 that Bob is
actually releasing a Christmas album to be called Christmas In The Heart,
to be sold in aid of the charity "Feeding America". Thanks Paul S. Levine
for information that it was recorded at Jackson Browne's Groove Masters
studio in Santa Monica, CA, in May and Jun 2009. For more information, see
bobdylan.com here:
.
Thanks to Éamonn Ó Catháin for information that there will be a
deluxe edition with five Christmas cards!
Thanks to Sonny Boy McFitzson for information that the Japanese release,
Sony
Music SICP 2477, 25 Nov 2009, will be the deluxe edition only, there will be
no standard edition. The price will be ¥2,520 (¥2,400 before sales
tax).
Of course, this brings back memories of the spoof 1960s Christmas album Snow
Over Interstate 80, see
here.
The album artwork was designed by Coco Shinomiya, who also designed the
artwork for Together Through Life. The front sleeve illustration is by
John Henry Bufford (1810-70) and is now public
domain artwork courtesy of
VisualLanguage.com. The photo in the centre of the folded insert is by
Leonard Freed, sourced from Magnum Photos, who also provided the cover photo for
Together Through Life. The rear insert picture of the Three Magi is by Edwin Fotheringham. The alluring "Miss Santa" on the reverse of the front insert is American
1950s pin-up Bettie Page, drawn by noted "pin-up artist" Olivia de
Berardinis. For more pictures of Bettie, who sadly died in Dec 2008, see her
web-site, www.bettiepage.com. For
more pictures of Bettie Page by Olivia de Berardinis, see Olivia's web-site:

"Christmas In The Heart" - limited edition CD release, Sony
Music SICP 2477
(Japan), 25 Nov 2009:
Sony Music SICP 2477
(Japan) - front with obi, scan by Hans Seegers (limited edition) |
Thanks to Ian Woodward for scans of the Japanese promo CD-R.
Thanks to Hans Seegers and Sonny Boy McFitzson for scans of the
Japanese limited edition release. It has a red obi with a white
spine and price ¥2,520 (¥2,400 before tax) and date
"09-11-25" (25 Nov 2009). The original release date is shown as "09-10-13" (13
Oct 2009) and the withdrawal date as "10-5-24" (24 May 2010).
The front insert is a folded sheet in English
as other worldwide releases and there is also a 28-page stapled booklet in English and Japanese.
This release has the five cards with envelopes supporting Feeding America. The
CD has the word "Christmas" instead of "Columbia" - this is because in Japan
"Columbia" is a trademark of Nippon Columbia and Sony have never had the rights
to use it there (CBS was taken over by Sony in 1968, after which it became
CBS/Sony and then just Sony).

59614 2
(Australia), 10 Oct 2009:
Columbia 88697 59614 2
(Australia) - front of slipcase, scan by Stuart Moore |
This release again comes in a slipcase with the five greetings
cards. There is an Australia-specific red sticker with white text on the CD
jewel case promoting the same three tracks as the US release and the fact that
all artist royalties from Australian sales are being given to charity "World
Food Programme". Only the slipcase has the catalogue number 88697 59614 2, the
CD itself has the catalogue number 88697 57323 2, the same as the US and
Australian standard releases.
The five greetings cards are blank inside and have plain white
envelopes. The design on the rear of each greeting card repeats the information
that artist royalties are being given to the "World Food Programme", as the
mainland Europe, Hong Kong and Korean releases. Bill Hester says this limited
edition has not so far been on sale in New Zealand, only the standard release
below.

sold out). The only difference is the obi, which is missing the Japanese text
about the greetings cards (compare the two detail scans). There is a 32-page

"The Complete Album Collection Vol.
One" - 47CD boxed
set, Columbia/Legacy/Sony Music 88691-92431-2 (USA), 5 Nov 2013/(Europe),
4 Nov 2013; USB stick,
Columbia/Legacy/Sony Music 88883-77314-5 (USA), 5 Nov 2013/(Europe),
4 Nov 2013:
This massive set is the latest in a series of "Complete Columbia Album
Collections" featuring artists such as Miles Davis, Charlie Mingus, Duke
Ellington, Dave Brubeck and even Blue Oyster Cult. The CD version of the set includes 41 Dylan albums in card
sleeves, 14 of which have been remastered for this project, plus a 2CD set
of previously released non-album tracks entitled
Side Tracks. The albums exclude all compilations and
The Bootleg Series sets, but do include the deleted 1973 Dylan album,
also see 1973, and the extra 2CD set
Side Tracks includes one side of the 1971 single George
Jackson (Acoustic version),
R-0085, see
1971. The set is
therefore listed in 2013.
The set also includes a hard cover book with extensive new liner notes and
previously unseen photos.
All the CDs come in card sleeves. The European sleeves are made of thicker
card than the US sleeves, but they are otherwise identical, so are not shown.
The catalogue number on the sleeve is "88691924312JK40"
plus "DISC 44". The CDs are different in detail, the US
Christmas In The Heart CD has
catalogue number "88691924312D44", whereas
the European CD has catalogue number "88691924312-44". The
European CD was made in the EU (probably Austria).
For more
details of the set, see
International Album Releases (Multi-Packs) 2010s.

Thanks to Éamonn Ó Catháin for news that the final set

the albums feature high-fidelity Blu-spec CD2 format and the remastering from
2013 used in US/European The Complete Album Collection. They also include
lyrics, new liner notes, and the original liner notes. This series is aimed to
replicate the original albums, including attachments such as ad stickers." |
