Rod Stewart - "Have You Ever Seen The Rain"/Bob Dylan - "Someday Baby" - two-track promo CD-R single, Sony/BMG (no catalogue number) (Argentina), Jan 2007:

R-0741-3 Someday Baby - edited version of track (3:03) from Modern
Times (the album version is 4:55) This single comes in a card sleeve - the reverse is plain white. The CD-R itself has a generic Sony/BMG label with no handwriting, but is genuine. For previous promo CD singles with this edit, see 2006. For promo CD singles with the full album version from 2006 and 2007, see International Singles 2000s. R-0453 Mary Ann's Garage Sale (Elliott
Murphy) - Bob is rumoured to contribute backing vocals to this song by
Elliott Murphy This entry has now been moved to "Red Herrings"! This story appeared in "Expecting Rain" in early Mar 2007. Elliott Murphy is an American musician based in France, and the album was recorded at Studio Franklin, Le Havre, France, from 23 Oct 2006. Bob was touring in the USA until 20 Nov 2006, so his appearance is unlikely. He is not included in the credits for this track and Arie de Reus is convinced the performance is of Elliott Murphy duetting with himself! Unless you're an Elliott Murphy fan, you are advised to listen to the track online before purchasing this album. Thanks to Jean-Pol Hiernaux for information and picture, to Tim Dunn for details of the US release and to Arie de Reus for the final verdict. |
"Thunder On The Mountain" - two-track promo CD-R single, Sony BMG/Columbia (no catalogue number) (UK), Feb 2007:
|
Front of insert - photo by Steve Wilson |
This CD-R single contains two versions of this track from Modern Times,
the full album version (5:55)and an edit. It comes in a plastic wallet with
a paper insert and a front sticker giving UK promotional information. For
a Sony/BMG Irish promo CD with just the album version, see
International Singles 2000s. R-0760-2 Thunder On The Mountain - edited version of track (3:59) from Modern Times For a mainland Europe glass mastered CD version of this single in a picture sleeve, see 2006. For a video viewable at the Sony Music Box web-site with a different edit and an iTunes UK download of this radio edit, see Online Performances (Other). In the video version, the "art of love/fit me like a glove" verse is missing; in this radio edit version, it is present but the later "tough sons of bitches/orphanages" verse is cut out. Thanks to Jean-Pol Hiernaux for information and to Steve Wilson for the photos. |

"Thunder On The Mountain" - one-track promo CD-R single, Sony BMG/Columbia (no catalogue number) (France), Feb 2007:
"Someday Baby" - one- and two-track promo CD and CD-R singles, Sony/BMG (no catalogue number) (Europe/France), Feb 2007:
The track is listed as 3:10, but I assume it's the same edit as the previous promo CD singles. The European CD single comes in a card sleeve, this time with a unique picture of Bob.
The French CD-R singles are like the one above and have a plain white disc in a blue Columbia card sleeve with a white French language sticker. One CD-R has the edit alone, the other has the album version as well as the edit.
Thanks to Hervé from France for information and photos.
"Sidewalks, Fences And Walls" - promo cassette (no catalogue number) (USA), surfaced on eBay Mar 2007:
"Blowin' In The Wind" - 10" acetate, Liberty Records (no catalogue number) (USA), surfaced on eBay Mar 2007:
Various Artists - "Lucky You: Music From
The Motion Picture" -
original soundtrack album for feature film released Apr 2007, Columbia/Sony Music
Soundtrax 82876 89625 2 (USA/Canada), 24 Apr 2007:
This album was originally scheduled for Sep 2006 with a different track list
that included Positively 4th Street by Johnny Rivers. For the DVD release see
VHS & DVD 2000s Part 4.
This film about a professional gambler in Las Vegas is directed by Curtis Hanson and stars Eric Bana and Drew Barrymore. "Huck" is the character played by Eric Bana. Curtis Hanson also directed 2000's Wonder Boys with Things Have Changed, see VHS & DVD 2000s Part 1. Thanks to Hans Seegers and Harold Lepidus for information about this album, which also contains Like A Rolling Stone from Highway 61 Revisited. Other tracks include songs by Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams, Bonnie Raitt and George Jones.
R-0738 Huck's Tune - previously unreleased song recorded specially for this film
Huck's Tune was released in Oct 2008 on The Bootleg Series Vol. 8 - Tell Tale Signs: Rare And Unreleased 1989-2006, see here. This means R-0738 has ceased to be a rarity.
The front insert of my copy is a
single sheet folded into four. Izidio Agostinho Filho has a copy bought from amazon.com in
the USA with the same catalogue number, CD and front sticker as mine but with an
8-page stapled booklet as the front insert and a different track selection
listed on both front and rear inserts! The inserts are dated 2006, so this is
the 2006 version of the soundtrack that was replaced by my version, perhaps
before a CD was pressed. Are there any CDs in existence with the 2006 track
list? My inserts are dated 2007. Tracks by Johnny Rivers and Shawn Colvin were
replaced by tracks by Madeleine Peyroux and Liza Minnelli and the track order
changed. Thanks to Jack from
Canada for scans of the Canadian release, which has an English/French
sticker and omits the FBI Anti-Piracy logos from the rear insert and the CD.
That has the same track list as mine.

"Hero Blues" - mono single-sided 10" acetate, Columbia (no catalogue number) (USA), surfaced Jul 2007:
![]() Picture found on eBay by Jean-Pol Hiernaux |
R-0390-3 Hero Blues - mono
out-take from The Times They Are A-Changin' recorded at Columbia
Studios, New York, 12 Aug 1963, surfaced in 2007 on an unreleased Columbia
acetate (3:38), lyrics on bobdylan.com
The blank side of the acetate has a stamp of "ALLIED New York USA". This is again the version with Bob on piano (CO78980). The Witmark demo version which also circulates unofficially has Bob on guitar, as do the out-takes around 3:06 in length from The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, recorded at Columbia Studios, New York, on 6 Dec 1962 (CO77020). This version also appeared on early Columbia acetates of the album, see 1964, and on the "Goldmine" acetates in 1980. For this recording with fake applause added from a 1972-80 Fantasy acetate (R-0792), see 1964. Thanks to Jean-Pol Hiernaux for finding this on eBay. |

They also appeared on the Smithsonian Folkways US boxed set The Best Of Broadside, 2000, and listed here as from that set. The CD also contains covers of A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall by Pete Seeger and Blowin' In The Wind by the New World Singers. |

![]() US promo CD-R insert scan by Jack from Canada |

The French CD-R is plain white and comes in a blue generic Columbia card sleeve with a white printed label in French. The Australian radio station CD-R has a white generic Sony/BMG card sleeve with printed information on the rear and date 1 Aug 2007.
