This new page collects song performances from regular Dylan albums on VHS video and DVD included in films in the1990s (I'm ignoring any editing or talking over them). I would be grateful for any additional information on these items and other material to place here. Films are listed by date of original appearance (in theatres or on TV), not when the VHS video or DVD came out, often some years later. For the audio soundtrack albums on which these songs often also appear, see International Album Releases (Various Artists Compilations). Uncredited pictures are from amazon.com or amazon.co.uk.
For a full Dylan filmography, see "Expecting Rain"
or "TV Talkin'"
. For informed discussion of all Bob's screen appearances, see C.P. Lee's
well-received book "Like A Bullet Of Light ".
All scans that aren't credited are from my own collection or amazon.com.
If you have any entries to add to the list or additions/corrections to
existing entries, please let me know!
Please note I cannot value your Dylan rarities -
see the Mission page for reasons why. Contact the
dealers on my Trading page for assistance!

This early film by Michael Moore includes The Times They Are A-Changin'
from the album of the same name, however I now know it's sung by Michael
Moore, not Bob.
The editions shown are from 2004, released after the success of Michael
Moore's films Bowling For Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11. There
is no UK VHS release. For the 2004 audio soundtrack album to Michael Moore's later film Fahrenheit 9/11, which includes a Dylan song, see International Album Releases (Various Artists Compilations). (The song isn't in the film itself, so it isn't listed in these pages.) Thanks to Jack from Canada for information. |

Like 1980's "Where The Buffalo Roam" (see
VHS & DVD: Films with Dylan Album
Tracks - 1980s), this is a film based on a book by Hunter S. Thompson, who died on
20 Feb 2005, this time starring Johnny Depp. Bob's
contribution is Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again from
Blonde On Blonde. For the 1998 film soundtrack album see International Album Releases (Various Artists Compilations). The two films were released in the UK as a DVD double-pack in Sep 2005. Thanks to Jack from Canada for information about the 2006 high definition US HD-DVD release (this will not play in a standard DVD player, and needs a special HD-DVD player that is not compatible with discs with the rival Blu-ray system) and for scans of the 2007 Canadian release. |

I previously misreported that one episode in this series contains Gotta Serve Somebody, the album
track from Slow Train Coming. In fact it was episode 24 from Season

see
VHS & DVD:
Films with Dylan Album Tracks - 2000s. This set has no Dylan content. The first Sopranos soundtrack album in 1999 did contain this song, see International Album Releases (Various Artists Compilations). The third Sopranos soundtrack album includes an exclusive cover by Bob Dylan, Return To Me, see 2001. For the DVD/VHS boxed set The Sopranos - The Complete Third Season, containing the episode in which that song appears, see VHS & DVD 2000s Part 1. Thanks to Jack from Canada for information. |
