This page lists Bob Dylan-only stereo promotional albums in all formats from 1966 onwards. They do not contain rarities, but are none the less very collectable. This page only lists albums released solely for promotional purposes including radio station LPs - promo copies of commercially released albums are included on the same page as the commercial album. For other stereo promotional albums, see the links above.

If you have any entries to add to the list or additions/corrections to existing entries, please let me know! Please note I cannot value your Dylan rarities - see the Mission page for reasons why. Contact the dealers on my Trading page for assistance!

"Forever Young" - promo CD, CBS XPCD 116 (UK), Feb 1990:

CBS XPCD 116 (UK) - front insert (my copy)
This unique 13 track promo CD was released to commemorate Bob's residency at the Hammersmith Odeon in London from 3-8 Feb 1990. All the tracks included, three of which come from Bob's then new album Oh Mercy, are from regular albums, although three other songs are versions from Biograph rather than from their original albums. It's a quite different album from the 1978 Spanish promo LP and the 1988 US promo CD (Columbia CSK 1151)  with the same title. For those see the 1970s and 1980s links above and below.

Tracks included are:

Political World from Oh Mercy; The Times They Are A-Changin' from the album of the same name; Visions Of Johanna - live 1966 version from Biograph; It's All Over Now, Baby Blue - live 1966 version from Biograph; Everything Is Broken from Oh Mercy; Rainy Day Women #23 & 35 from Blonde On Blonde; Forever Young - demo version from Biograph; Man In A Long Black Coat from Oh Mercy; Lay, Lady, Lay from Nashville Skyline; Subterranean Homesick Blues from Bringing It All Back Home; A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall and Blowin' In The Wind from The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan; Chimes Of Freedom from Another Side Of Bob Dylan.

Bob Dylan/John Lennon - "The Lost Lennon Tapes - Dylan And Lennon" - 2 radio broadcast LPs, Westwood One show #91-17 (USA), 22 Apr 1991:

Westwood One show #91-17 (USA) - front scan by Hans Seegers

The LP format is unusual for the date. Bob's contribution is:

Side 1: Talkin' New York (full length); Blowin' In The Wind (full length); Corrina, Corrina )1:10 excerpt, partly talked over); Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 (full length)

Side 2: Subterranean Homesick Blues (full length); Positively 4th Street (full length); Like A Rolling Stone (full length)

Side 3: Gotta Serve Somebody (2:20 excerpt)

Side 4 is blank! The show also includes Lennon's Dylan parody, Serve Yourself, on Side 3.

Thanks to Hans Seegers for information and scans.

"Music & Words 1998 To 1963" - promo CD, Columbia CSK 6226 (USA), 1998:

csk6226_f.jpg (25230 bytes)
CSK 6226 (USA) - front scan by Dave Plentus

An interesting compilation in reverse chronological order, starting with Cold Irons Bound and ending with Don't Think Twice It's Alright - all tracks are the regular album versions.

I'm told by "HwyCDRrev" that the CD insert information is not entirely accurate - All Along The Watchtower is from Before The Flood, not John Wesley Harding, and You Ain't Goin' Nowhere is from The Basement Tapes, recorded 1967, released 1975, but the date is incorrectly shown as "11/17/71", the date of the second version with Happy Traum from Greatest Hits Vol. 2/More Greatest Hits.

Thanks to Christopher Perry for information and Dave Plentus for scans.
