This new page collects song performances from regular Dylan albums on VHS video and DVD included in films in the 1980s (I'm ignoring any editing or talking over them). I would be grateful for any additional information on these items and other material to place here. Films are listed by date of original appearance (in theatres or on TV), not when the VHS video or DVD came out, often some years later. For the audio soundtrack albums on which these songs often also appear, see International Album Releases (Various Artists Compilations).
For a full Dylan filmography, see "Expecting Rain"
or "TV Talkin'"
. For informed discussion of all Bob's screen appearances, see C.P. Lee's
well-received book "Like A Bullet Of Light ".
All scans that aren't credited are from my own collection or amazon.com.
If you have any entries to add to the list or additions/corrections to
existing entries, please let me know!
Please note I cannot value your Dylan rarities -
see the Mission page for reasons why. Contact the
dealers on my Trading page for assistance!
Revised: 28 March, 2008.
Titles in red are not available
on a currently released Bob Dylan CD (for these see bobdylan.com

This film starring Bill Murray was based on the semi-autobiographical
novel of the same name by journalist Hunter S. Thompson, who died on 20 Feb
2005. Bob's contribution to the
soundtrack album is Highway 61 Revisited. The soundtrack album also includes Jimi Hendrix's cover of All Along The Watchtower.
According to Jack from Canada these songs do not appear in the current DVD
version of the film, which is strange! Do they appear in earlier versions? To purchase these film
posters, visit the Nostalgia Factory
Thanks to Freddy Ordoñez Araque for finding the 2005 US DVD. This film is now available in the UK as a double pack with the 1998 film "Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas" (also based on a Hunter Thompson book), see VHS & DVD: Films with Dylan Album Tracks 1990s. |

Since 18 Jun 2002 you are Visitor No.
(That was when I started using a new counter - I estimate that around 700,000 people previously visited the site since its set-up in mid-1998.)
