This is a separate multi-year list by release date of commercially-released Various Artist stereo compilation albums released between 1980 and 1986 that have been referred to me but do not qualify for my Searching For A Gem list because they contain only Bob Dylan performances which are available on officially released Dylan albums. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing here - as far as I know some are not included on any other Internet site. This page now includes promo-only Various Artist compilation albums and Radio Station Albums with Dylan tracks. The page is still incomplete - more entries required.

Please note I cannot value your Dylan rarities - see the Mission page for reasons why. Contact the dealers on my Trading page for assistance!

For the film release, see VHS & DVD: Films with Dylan Album Tracks 1980s.

Backstreet/MCA 202.450 (NL) - front scan by Hans Seegers
This film starring Bill Murray was based on the semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by Hunter S. Thompson. Bob's contribution to the soundtrack album is Highway 61 Revisited, listed as just "Highway 61". The album also includes Jimi Hendrix's cover of All Along The Watchtower. According to Jack from Canada all songs but two have been removed from the film soundtrack for copyright reasons so that these songs only appear in the original 1980 VHS and Betamax versions of the film, and not in any DVD version! As far as I can ascertain, the soundtrack album is now out of print, and has never been released on CD, presumably for the same reasons.

Thanks to Izidio Agostinho Filho for information and Hans Seegers, Kenneth Robson and Bill Hester for scans.

CBS 114-1731 (Colombia) - front scan by Hans Seegers

The Dylan contribution to these Latin American albums was Neighbourhood Bully from Infidels. Every country whose label I so far has translated it into Spanish differently! These were: "El Vecindario De Bully" (Colombia), "El Rufian Del Vecindario" (Mexico), "El Matón Del Vecindario" (Peru) "Vecindario Estupendo" (Venezuela).

All the front covers were slightly different, and the labels differ even more. Only the Peruvian front sleeve has the song titles, and the Peruvian labels are the old-style CBS orange design. The Mexican labels have both old-style and new-style CBS logos.
