Audio: International Album Releases (Various Artist Compilations) - 1980-89

This is a separate multi-year list by release date of commercially-released Various Artist stereo compilation albums released between 1980 and 1989 that have been referred to me but do not qualify for my Searching For A Gem list because they contain only Bob Dylan performances which are available on officially released Dylan albums. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing here - as far as I know some are not included on any other Internet site. This page is still incomplete - more entries required.

This film starring Bill Murray was based on the semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by Hunter S. Thompson. Bob's contribution to the soundtrack album is Highway 61 Revisited, listed as just "Highway 61". The album also includes Jimi Hendrix's cover of All Along The Watchtower. According to Jack from Canada these songs do not appear in the DVD version of the film!

The album title is "Clube Dos Namorados" on the sleeve and "Club Dos Namorados Vol. II" on the record label. Bob's contribution to this compilation is Lay, Lay, Lay from Nashville Skyline, which also contains Mr. Tambourine Man by The Byrds. Like other Brazilian releases, Mr. Tambourine Man is credited to "Bob Dylan/Albert Grossman"!

CBS 114-1731 (Colombia) - front scan by Hans Seegers	The Dylan contribution to these Latin American albums was Neighbourhood Bully from Infidels. Every country whose label I have translated it into Spanish differently! These were: "El Vecindario De Bully" (Colombia), "El Rufian Del Vecindario" (Mexico), "El Matón Del Vecindario" (Peru) "Vecindario Estupendo" (Venezuela). All the front covers were slightly different, and the labels differ even more. Only the Peruvian front sleeve has the song titles, and the Peruvian labels are the old-style CBS orange design. Bob's contribution was It's All Over Now, Baby Blue from Bringing It All Back Home. Although it has German text on the front, this is a Dutch release, with the artwork printed in Holland. This is apparently the first compilation released on CD in Holland, and the CD itself was made in Japan (the CBS CD manufacturing plant in Austria had not yet been established). This compilation was exported to West Germany, France and the UK.

The album is a joint release by Elektra/Asylum/Aaron Russo Music Inc., which I've abbreviated to just "Elektra" on the scan credits.

Elektra 60873-1 (USA) - LP front scan by Kenneth Robson	Bob's contribution was Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 from Blonde On Blonde. The LP shown is a promo copy with white Elektra US labels. There is a gold promo stamp on the rear sleeve. It comes in a generic Elektra paper inner sleeve. The front CD insert is a single card, the front of which is the same for both releases. The catalogue numbers are the only significant changes on the reverse of the front inserts and the rear insert, although the US CD has the title in a much lighter blue than the West German CD. Bob's contribution to this fourth compilation of songs used in this Australian TV series about the Vietnam War is Tears Of Rage by Bob Dylan and The Band from The Basement Tapes. The album also includes the cover of This Wheel's On Fire by Julie Driscoll and The Brian Auger Trinity.

The front insert of the CD release is a single card. The album title on the rear insert (jewel box spines) and the CD is Tour Of Duty IV.
