SLUKFront.JPG (30489 bytes) The front photograph by Howard Alk shows Bob outside the entrance to Rundown Studios, Santa Monica, CA. "Street-legal" is an American term for a hot rod car that has been modified to allow it to be driven on public roads. It has been suggested that the term refers to Bob's newly-divorced single status, but he's clearly wearing a wedding ring in the picture! The rear photo is also by Howard Alk, taken live on stage during the Far East tour in early 1978. The two photographs on the inner sleeve were taken by Joel Bernstein in a night club in Melbourne, Australia, on the same tour - the man with Bob on the inner sleeve back is singer and guitarist George Benson.

Since this album was re-released on CD in 1999 in a remastered and remixed form, the differences on the original album from the 1999 release have become rarities! For the remastered CD see International Album Releases (Regular). Specific differences from that are:

R-0284 Señor (Tales Of Yankee Power) - this track fades into True Love Tends To Forget, on the new version they're separated. Also, Keith Venturoni points out that the mandolin is much more prominent on this original mix.

Changing Of The Guards is 30 seconds shorter than the 1999 version, but this original version can still be found on CD on 1994's Greatest Hits Vol. 3, so it's not a rarity.

John Wilson's promo copy has white Columbia labels with matrix numbers: Side 1: P AL 35453-2A (hand-etched), Side 2: P BL 35453-2A (machine-stamped). The "FOR PROMOTION ONLY" text is machine-stamped in gold ink on the upper left corner of the back cover. The front sleeve has a Columbia Records radio station timing strip. It has a black inner sleeve with the pictures as illustrated from the UK release (below).

Thanks to Hans Seegers and Ulf Gyllenspetz for information and pictures.
